Purpose: This project seeks to improve the leadership skills of women in the small municipalities of Estrie and to develop greater efficiency in the newly elected representatives through networking with women’s groups. The activities will include: supporting 30 defeated candidates so that they stay involved; discussions on municipal policy issues among 130 members of the women’s groups and elected representatives; connecting the women involved in or interested in municipal politics; setting up an Internet forum; mentoring and preparing future candidates. To carry out these activities, the organization will partner with communication and facilitation experts and a web marketing expert. The targeted results include: to ensure that 20 defeated candidates stay involved and run in the 2013 elections or by-elections; increase the leadership skills and knowledge of municipal politics of 120 women and help them expand their network; and preparing 69 women for the 2013 municipal elections.
