Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Regroupement des femmes d'affaires et femmes professionnelles de la région de Thetford
Location: Thetford Mines, Québec
Date: 2010-03-15
Value: $24,000.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: The goal of this project is to increase feminine representation on the decision-making bodies of the Appalaches Regional County Municipality. In the first phase, the group will assess the level of feminine representation on various boards of directors and various other decision-making bodies in other regional county municipalities. The results of this assessment will then be announced in the region’s media to raise awareness among elected officials and the general public about gender equality issues. Increased feminine representation on these bodies cannot be achieved without a promotional and mobilisation campaign directed at the region’s decision-making bodies. In the second phase, the group will offer assistance through training workshops, conferences and personalized follow-ups to women who are interested in investing themselves in this effort to increase feminine representation. The following themes will be discussed: the importance of feminine representation, the development of leadership skills, strategic governance and work-family balance. This will help participants better understand what active participation and commitment to the life of the community implies.
