Location: Regina, Saskatchewan
Date: 2010-03-15
Value: $165,353.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This 24-month project will support women in the northern Saskatchewan community of Ile-a-La-Crosse by reducing barriers for women and girls who are victims of violence. Women will work collaboratively with STOPS to Violence and service providers in their community to implement a protocol document entitled Community Connections Plan. This plan will serve as both a framework for the community to take action as well as a direct intervention strategy for a consistent, coordinated and effective response to interpersonal violence and abuse. This project will provide women with training in group facilitation, community action planning and leadership while placing them directly into decision-making roles. A team of two women living in the community will facilitate the project. This team and the women and girls participating will be involved in preparing the training modules, community planning sessions and public educational sessions. Each participant will also be involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the project.
