Date: 2011-03-22
Value: $200,000.00

Purpose: This 24-month project will respond to the specific needs of women, including Aboriginal and immigrant women, who have experienced abuse as they transition to violence-free lives. Innovative service delivery models and supports will be tested over the course of the project to ensure women using shelters benefit from new approaches and standards. The project will facilitate improvements in services for abused women and results will be shared with organizations working on similar issues across Canada. The project plans to work with partner agencies and women who have experienced abuse to conduct a mapping exercise to determine service needs, as well as the nature, frequency and barriers that women face. Strategies and approaches to address these barriers will be identified and implemented. The project will target women who have experienced abuse in the County of Peterborough.
