Date: 2015-03-15
Value: $300,000.00

Purpose: This 36-month project will work to increase Aboriginal women’s economic prosperity by increasing recruitment and advancement in the construction trades, with a focus on Aboriginal women in remote communities across Manitoba who have little to no access to technical training in the construction trades. The project will identify the barriers that women face in accessing training and employment opportunities in the construction sector and the organization will adapt its current programming in order to increase opportunities and address the needs of Aboriginal women. The project will work with industry partners, local government, educational institutions and Aboriginal women to build and implement a community action plan to create a culture of training and hiring of women in skilled trades, specifically construction-related employment.
