Purpose: This 24-month project will engage stakeholders and community organizations including schools and training institutions to develop and implement strategies to improve services for Inuit women that are victims or at risk of experiencing violence in seven communities in the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut. “Community Circles” with service providers and Inuit women will be held to identify and examine barriers and potential strategies for improving programs and services, as well as form partnerships and explore opportunities for collaboration. Inuit women will increase their leadership skills through a series of workshops on topics such as: culture, safety and violence and use these strengthened leadership competencies to develop and deliver women-led projects. These projects will focus on improving social service delivery and could include the development of tools, protocols, and service providers’ orientation documents.
