Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Assaut Sexuel Secours (Val-d’Or) Inc.
Location: Val-d’Or, Quebec
Date: 2016-02-03
Value: $87,627.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This is a supplement to the following 24-month project which aimed to improve the ability of community service providers in Vallée-de-l'Or, Abitibi, to prevent sexual violence against women. The project identified the institutional barriers that limit the ability of stakeholders to respond to the needs of victims of sexual violence who are living in poverty, as well as the specific needs of Indigenous women living on the Lac-Simon and Kitcisakik reserves. The creation of a local roundtable on violence against women provided a forum for disseminating and testing promising practices and supported collaboration between key stakeholders representing community services and the Indigenous community. A formal framework for sharing project learnings and facilitate networking between stakeholders was developed. This supplement will extend the project duration an additional 12 months to allow partnerships to be further developed to create an action plan for intervention and the development and evaluation of a continuum of services, including institutional health and police sectors. Best practices will be disseminated across the province, particularly as they relate to Indigenous women.
