Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Women's Network PEI
Location: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
Date: 2016-10-06
Value: $90,000.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This 36-month project will enable local democratic institutions in the province of Prince Edward Island to eliminate barriers to women’s active participation and empower women to take political action. An assessment of the current status of women’s participation in political parties will be completed and pertinent policies, services, decision-making processes, along with promising practices, will be identified and shared with the working groups established within each of the four major political parties. The working groups will develop and implement strategies to positively influence their policies and practices at the systemic level. The project will develop and provide non-partisan leadership training to women who are interested in, or already involved in, politics at some level, including a focus on increasing their ability to address systemic and structural barriers within the provincial political system. A provincial symposium will also be held to build momentum and expand the conversation on transforming the conditions for women’s leadership.
