Purpose: This 36-month project will work to increase women’s housing security in the Halifax Regional Municipality by addressing systemic barriers encountered when leaving transitional housing, enabling women to successfully move into long-term independent living. The project will engage women affected by housing insecurities and key stakeholders from government, community organizations, service providers, and the private housing sector, to strategize on key policy and needed systemic changes. Effective strategies to increase the likelihood of women’s successful transition into the community will be identified and piloted. The project will engage key stakeholders who can help implement systemic change, broadening their understanding, engaging them in meaningful dialogue and securing commitment to action.
