Purpose: This 36-month project will address systemic barriers faced by incarcerated Indigenous women in Winnipeg and Southern Manitoba when reintegrating into society and accessing necessary services, such as housing and banking. In collaboration with Indigenous women, community stakeholders, including shelters and financial institutions and provincial partners, the project will develop and implement an action plan directed at revising policies, services, and procedures to provide more flexible, accessible, and culturally-appropriate services for Indigenous women.
